Need help with tranny probs and codes!!

I have an 05 f250 and today it decides it wants to flare up between 3-4 gear and is hard shifting into other gears. Also puttin into reverse it slams hard then kinda chugs and jumps backwards. Its to the point now where it locked itself in tow haul and wont go into overdrive just revs up and the tow haul light just flashes. I have 4 codes I have no idea what they mean. They are P0404, P0405, P0766, and P2703. And help is appreciated guys I need it thanks!

I have the same problem going from 3rd to 4th it did it for the first time last week. I pulled over and turned it off and turn it back on and it worked fine again and it did it to me again today. So if you find out please pass along the information

Sounds like the direct drive solenoid is on it's way out. The first two codes are EGR related so not related to your tranny problem. I got a new one from Doug @ Gogo Diesel. Basically, when you start getting these kinds of codes, your tranny is likely living on borrowed time so be prepared for your tranny to start having problems.

@DeWitt and @Williford, what did you guys find out? I just had the same issue yesterday on my 03Ex, hard shift from 3 to 4, and wouldn't go into overdrive with Tow/Haul flashing. Dealer agrees with Evil Eye, says its the Direct Drive Solenoid, and if not, then we're talking tranny R&R.

I checked codes with my MiniMaxx, cleared them, and they came right back. Hard Failed. Like an idiot, I checked them again, same code, drove to the dealer and removed the MM without writing the code down! Now I'm at their mercy...

Solenoid is being installed today, hoping for the best.

03 Excursion 6.0L 4WD, K&N CAI, 4" TBE, H&S MM. Kid hauler. Wife's truck.

08 Dodge Cummins 6.7L 4WD, 3500, QCLB, Banks/K&N CAI, 5" TBE, H&S XRT, G56 with a Valair DD Kevlar clutch on the shelf waiting to be installed. My truck.

Yes, drive solenoid replaced, tranny flushed, haven't had any issues since. She's runnin like a champ!
