Tranny and tuners...how do your's cooperate?

OK, so for the second time in a month, I have had transmission gremlins. The first time, when I programmed the truck to stock, they went away...but, computer back on, and problems again. Hypertech said program to stock, and go a week to let the truck reset. I did, and things went back to normal. Today, I was messing with the tow/haul feature, and after I made a stop, the tranny went crazy. This time, it would stay in one gear...no upshifting, no downshifting. Even with the truck programmed back to stock, no luck. At one point, the truck wouldn't even start. Eventually, I had to unhook the batts, and it is back to normal, though I haven't plugged the HyperPAC back up yet. You can see step by step what went wrong by looking at my posts in the "Urgent" forums.

My question is, how does your tuner work with your transmission? I have only had this thing for 3 or 4 months, and I'm having problems. Anyone out there that have been running their tuners for a long time, I'd like to hear how it has worked for you.

I am running the SCT and have no tranny issues. I know the Predator is rough on trannys as well. I hope you get it figured out quickly.

Last night I went to rip everything off my rig so I can get it serviced this week, and hopefully stay under the radar. I found that up under my dash, a piece of the trip had cut into my cable that ran from the computer to the OBD port. Now, I don't know if that was the problem (although it couldn't have been helping matters), but I am still going to have my transmission scanned this week, if nothing else, for piece of mind. If nothing comes back wrong, I'm gonna get a printout, and try the HyperPAC one more time, and if it doesn't work, then I have documentation saying there is nothing "wrong" with the transmission itself.

I did a lot of research on this site, and another one before buying my SCTXcal2. Your sirtuation was my main concern, and the only tuner/programmer that I found to be safe is the one I bought. NONE of the others offer anything to protect your tranny from the extra power, besides defueling during shift points. My take on that was this, if your WOT, and your tuner defuels, and your tranny doesn't shift properly for some reason and its not completely in the next gear before the fuel is turned back on, then BOOM there goes that gear, rocked hard by a miscommunication. SCT is the ONLY one that increases line pressure for firm, precise shifts. I haven't read any stories of people blowing up their autos with SCT, nor have I been anything but happy with mine. Just my .02 cents, get rid of it!

I guess the hardest part is that if I do go with another tuner, this will be a $1000 mistake (for the HyperPAC and the EGT module). I guess I can keep it for the dyno, drag, and digital gauge feature. I have an appointment friday to get my fuel filters changed, and to have the transmission checked out. I'll let you guys know what they say. I still have a sinking feeling that the tranny has a problem.

Ya can't...it mates itself to your computer, and then it's done.
