Angry More tranny problems

So i was out today running parts to another store, When i got back i backed into my parking spot, and what happend was really weard. It was like i was going from nuturel to Reverce over and over again. Really fast. Maybe 1 seconds in between. I havent got back out to see if if it does it again. But the tranny was running 170 deg's which is higher then normal. The tranny fluid was normal and didnt smell burnt. So i called my dealer and they said that they where about 99% sure it was the torque converter locking and unlocking. The tranny was replaced about 5 months ago. but i dont know if the tc was replaced with it or not. and the sirveice manager didnt know for sure eather. What do yall think guys. Any help will be great!

Bobby

I don't know if it would be the tc locking. If it were locking it would bog then idle up and try to lunge forward. I would think it acting that way would be the tc slipping. Either way I think it is time to take and back to them.

I dont know anyone with 5R110 problems. We have customers putting 500 plus hp thru them. I have seen selenoids do weird things in the new style transmissions. My wifes Exploder had a weird selenoid problem like that when we first got it. Couple hours in the shop and it was fine till we traded it. Good Luck Bobby.

When I had the truck in for giving the shakes after the torque converter locked, the transmission tech at my dealer told me that transmissions are virtually indestructable as they are 100% computer controlled. He said that it would be possible to be going down the road at 60MPH, throw it into reverse and no damage would be caused as the computer would say "whoa, we're going the wrong direction" then slow you down to a stop, then electronically shift it into reverse.

Sounds good to me, but I'll just have to take his word for it, as I have no plans on testing that theory on my $1500 transmission.

Oh, the shudder were solved by TSB reprogramming of the transmission computer (stuttering with a goose neck trailer), and back flushing the transmission / torque converter.

Ever try turning the key after your truck is already running. I know Chevy's are fail safe.
