03 TRANNY ISSUE

I was recently driving my 03 4x4 220k miles, 6.0L diesel and pulling a trailer, the rpms jumped when it tried to go into 4th gear.i had just put 15 gals in so i thought it may be bad fuel, but it only did that at 4 th gear. when i was accelerating i could slowly speed up and the tranny would go to 4th with out issue, if i drove normally it would hesitate and jerk a time or 2 with the rpms revving. once in gear it was fine, i checked the fluid, and it was red and level was good, i am no mechanic, any ideas?

i've been having this problem for about a year. i've rebuilt the trans, replaced the shift solenoids, replaced the trans harness, and replaced the pcm. i just learned to deal with it. i think i'm just gonna sell the truck.

My 03 with 92k miles often does the same thing with 3rd gear.....I've been driving it that way for quite a while.....guess I've just gotten used to it....
