Shift Slip

The other day I was accelerating at a "normal" or "sane pace" and between 3rd and 4th gear the transmission did not shift and the tac reaved up around 4000 rpms and would not engage in gear. Finally I shifted it to nuetral and back to drive and it's been normal ever since. So my question is, what causes this and am I on a short road to a new transmission???

2004 6.0L torque shift trany slip

I have had simular problems. it all started when i disconect both batteries with my chip still plugged into the pcm. disconected the Edge chip and it went away. later reinstalled the chip and truck was fine for about 1 yr then started doing it again. dealer flashed out error code then I was good again. well now it is slipping from 3 to 4 again. dealership say i need new clutch packs. I think the pcm is jacked. looking for any one else that may have info on this

My tranny will flare up between 2-3 shift and it will pop between 3-4 shift. It doesn't do it all the time but its been bad lately and I only have about 5000 miles since it got rebuilt. I'm just going to live with it because its the third tranny within 40k miles and I'll get it fixed when it blows apart.
