Tranny gone??

I was driving home on Friday and noticed my trans started shifting erratically. then it seemed to just quit pulling and felt like the drive train bound up. I pulled over and put it in park and it seemed fine after that. Well then I noticed that there was a delay from park to reverse and then into drive. Finally after dropping off my son at school I was driving down the road and I heard a BOOM and the truck quit pulling. Now it won't pull in forward or reverse. If I rev the motor up the truck will crawl and barley move.
So step one I checked for codes. I got 2 codes that referenced the transfer case.
Step 2 pulled the pan and looked inside. Clean but had lots of metal in it.

So I talked to a transmission guy and he said the codes don't sound like my problem. He said with no black in it and metal then more than likely it is either the converter broke inside or the planetary assembly may have shattered. Anyone else have this experience? Sounds like I may be lucky if its only the converter. I am going to pull the trans in the morning and check the converter. Anyone have any other ideas.

Well I guess I lucked out. The converter shattered and started locking up on me. So after installing a new one the truck is back at it again.
