tow haul mode. whats wrong???

changed both filters in tranny.also pulled turbo due to vane lock-up.after cleaning turbo truck is running fine.prior to this my tow haul mode was working great.tonight going down hill i hit the tow haul mode and the engine went silent almost as if it had completely shut down. no clacking of the diesel nothing.the truck felt like it was free rolling when i would give it gas i could here the motor.prior to this all i had to do was tap the brake and the engine brake would kick in.this is a 2003 f350 6.0 psd.had no problems with it untill the warranty ran out.

I dont know if it is a problem or not.My 05 does that, its kinda wierd I can feel it slowing down but the engine is dead silent,no injector noise or anything.I think it might be part of the programming,to kill the motor for extra drag, kinda like how the big trucks lock in the fan clutch when you turn on the jakes. But then why wouldn't your truck have done it all along?Don't really know what to tell ya.

I believe that the computer kills the injectors when the engine break is on to keep the engine from being damaged before you probly had a heavier load on it so the motor was louder when being used as a brake. it doesnt seem to me like their is any thing wrong with it but you might wait round and see what the experts have to say bout it

my truck sounds like that if i use the tranny to slow me down on big hills, it also did that before when at idle. it turned out that it was an EGR problem. i had to have the EGR valve replaced, and the EBP tube cleaned out. hope this helps.
