slow into drive from reverse

Morning all, lately i've noticed one of my sevice trucks an 04 f-350 w/6.0, 5-spd auto is taking 4-5 seconds to engage drive from reverse when I back out of the shop. I dont think its the cold, seems I remember it a few times when it was warmer. It stays inside at night shops about 45-50 degrees. Is this a common problem with the 5-spd or maybe electrical quirk? Oh I only have about 47K miles on it. If it persists I'll be taking it to the dealership for service. Thanks for any and all help.

I had the same problem and replaced a solenoid and cured it right up!

Now I cant recall 100% but it was something like the main pressure solenoid...cant recall the exact name. If you can get ahold of a tech familiar with the trans they should know it just from the description. My solenoid was around 80$ and was pretty easy to replace myself with the truck on a lift. Just plan on refilling with fluid and maybe changing the filters while in there.

I had the same issue at about 42k miles...let it go for too long and it only got worse. Ended up being a solenoid issue but at that point for me it was beyond just replacing the solenoid and had to get a new trans. Get it looked at now instead of later...$80 is better than $3000

Oh, and I remember seeing a recall for this at some point but it had an expiration date of sometime in 2006

I had the same problem also....it was the line pressure control solenoid, Brian@BTS gave my tech the part number of the soleniod...about $80 and needs to have the whole solenoid/valve body assembly taken down,afterwards it was great for a while.....not to be the bearer of bad news.....but......I just got done having my trans rebuilt(although now its billet built), but it all started with that solenoid! Get it checked, trans flush and all new filters.
