External Trans Filter Housing Leak

Replaced the external transmission filter Aka " Toliet Paper Roll "
about 3 months ago and just noticed a leak coming from the cast aluminum
housing. Replaced the o-ring seal about an hour ago and the SOB still leaks.
Anybody out there have the same bad experience as me ?
Anybody got any suggestions other than ending up at Ford buying the whole
damn assembly ? Any tranny guys out there ?
ANY help would GREATLY be appreciated.

Hey bigeblue, I have the same toilet paper filter leak issue with my 05. Did you ever figure out what the cause was? What did ya end up doing? I changed mine about a month ago, and I just noticed a slow drip type of leak each time I park her.

Ok ... so heres what cha gotta do ... remove housing cup, clean all the fluid from threads and o-ring, and o-ring mating surface ... reassemble filter in cup and reinstall dry ... completely dry ... no fluid on o-ring or mating surface. Be sure if you have fluid in the cup that it is only about 1/3 full otherwise it will squeeze out when you are reinstalling cup and it will wet the o-ring seal and you'll have to start all over again. Hope this helps ..
