trans issue, tow haul wont work, grinding..?

Past few months ive been having a intermittent grinding comming through my floor board. Some times its barely noticible and other times its lik OMG theres a troll tryin to come through my floor. Ive gone from one end of the truck to the other lookin for the problem, body mounts, wheel bearings, drive shafts, u joints, difs, transfer case... Cant really pin it down. Then just the other night i went to put my truck in tow haul, like to do this every so often just like with 4 wheel drive just to keep things lubricated and make sure it works. Well when i hit tow haul the light came on but it didnt go into tow haul..? tried this a few times but still wouldnt work, then the grinding came back. This time it was really bad and had that same metal to metal noise/feel to it. Was like that the rest of the night and i still have noticed it over the past few days. This truck has been in for the planetary gear recall before i had bought the truck. Has anyone had this similar experience or heard of anything like this?

thats what ive thought for some time now but i dont know enough about transmissions yet to be sure. When you put your truck in tow haul does it make anything change in TC or is it just line presure or gear change in the trans. Someone please learn me up because i have no idea Theres been a sound coming from that general area (back of engine/bellhousing) almost sounds like a bearing or like a penny getting shaken around in a glass jar.... thats my best description

im having the same sound driving down the road and today my tranny shifted like it was in tow haul but it wasnt

What do you mean tow haul mode? Are you talking with a programmer?

no there is a tow/haul buton on the gear select lever. Changes shift points and it feels like a built in trans brake when your using it.

no biggie. im hopin it will just get me through till spring. Swappin in a cummins and rebuildin the ole torqshift. Im through messin around.
