tranny learning?

Do the 5r110w trannies need to learn new tunes? not sure what happened the other night, had the truck tuned for awhile now, blew a HG so ran it stock for about a week before doing the HG & stud job, well got done puttin in the studs and ran it stock for a day before i re-tuned it.. took it easy on it for a couple hundred miles, well i decided it was time to lay into it. so i got on it on strait, held it at WOT till about 80mph or so. coasted for a bit, ran it back at WOT to about 90mph, well i took a right turn and about halfway through the turn i mashed on it, spun the tires through first into second and when the truck went to shift into third it missed the shift and pegged the rev. limiter. i left off right away and it banged into third. i got a factory reman 5r110 with tripple disk TC about 8mo, 12k ago?? any thoughts as to what happened? thanks

Probably put it into shock. Mine does this all the time minus the banging into 3rd but it will rev up between the 2nd to 3rd shift.

Since you upgraded your TC, did you advise your tuner about that ? Also yes there is a learning process for the 5R110. Theres a certain drive process you have to go through, the spikes and flares is pretty much the tranny adapting to the different shift points and pressures etc.

I just tuned mine also and it did pretty much the same thing. But mine was fine at first when i did it but now it throws into gears and seems like it takes forever to shift. Also has the high revs. Thinks its just learning???
