i was talkin to some guys down at twisted diesel today while i was down there about this. They said its "To much work" but i guess pullin the cab to get the heads off isnt either lol. I do know the floor pan has to be notched out to allow for the proper clearance, no big deall. Getting the clutch pedal and master cylinder.. i wonder about drive shaft length?? idk if the manual is the same or shorter/longer.. have to do some research. maybe one of the fellas around here would know

well ive come to the definite conclusion that im going to be swapping in a 12v in the spring sometime. Ive been doin my research there too, my argument for why i want to swap in the manual weather it be a zf6 or a 47re... is that my 5r110 is in need of a posible rebuild, tc and i would have to buy the electronic stand alone computer for it. On the down side of the mod, yes i would have to get a new trans mount, clutch pedal assymbley, and make the appropriate mods to the floor pan.. Posibly a new stearing column if i want it to look rite. Im going to do some math but putting numbers aside having a standard behind a 6.0 or a pumped up cummins would just be a blast not to mention up keep wouldnt be as critical compared to the automatics. Ive got a few months before im tearin the old ford apart so im gona continue to do more research. Ill keep you guys posted on what i find. You can bet to see a full build thread when i start down that bumpy road.

dug up a little more stuff on the swap.. the bigest issuse with this swap is the trans tunnel. My idea was to find a floor pan from either a wrecked truck and cut the tunnle out or buy a new floor pan and do the same thing. Priced the floor pan for the manual trucks and it was about $500 bucks, thats for a reg cab truck. If you have the extended or crew cab it jumps up to over a thousand. IMO that wouldnt be too horibly bad if you got the tranny for the rite price. Im thinking total cost for the swap to be about 3k on the steep side if you can find some good used parts. I have a friend that works at a body shop, im gona see if he cant find a good price on body pannels/floor pan for my truck.
