EGR cooler, head gasket, or something else?
I am looking at an 03 Superduty with a 6.0 with around 120K miles. The owner says that it heats up when running hard, and has noticed coolant loss. I am assuming that it has a bad EGR cooler, or possibly a bad head gasket. Does anyone know of any other problems that could cause this? If it could be something worse than the EGR cooler, or head gaskets, I think I'll avoid being the next owner.
Thanks! |

oil cooler is very common problem when they clog up they starve the egr cooler and then they flash boil coolant and theres no place for the pressure to go but out the drgas bottle cap. if not fixed it will take out the head gaskets. change oil cooler and get rid of the egr cooler and then change coolant after good flush install new degas bottle cap and driver like you stole her if shes still puking then its the head gaskets.
my 04 had 2 turbos 4 heads and 2 sets of gaskets before i bought it. just changed the oil cooler and got rid of egr cooler made the delete kit myself put it all back together and ben running it with hot tunes and towing a 18 foot gooseneck horse trailer areound and hasnt puked at all now. |
