engine has no power and horrible lag
Hi everyone, would like to say that I am glad you guys are here. reading a lot of these post has made me actually want to keep my truck now..lol. I have a 04 f-350 srw. crew cab 4wd My truck has the problem with the cold start that I have seen on here but I think I can get it reflashed and cure that. One problem with it is that if I am at a stop sign or a light the truck takes forever to get going from a stop. Even if I floor it it acts like it just won't go. It sems to run ok at normal speeds. The fuel mileage stinks to. bout 14-15 with normal driving. Anyone have any suggestions? I do not have any kind of chip or programming in it. All is bone stock. Also have a problem with it wandering all over the road. I have to continue to chase the truck with the steering wheel. No lift and no big tires. Thanks again for the help everyone

has your truck always had that bad of a lag or is it worse?
as for the wandering, check the front end, specifically the arms that connect to the hubs. check for play. im sure you will find play there, or possible gear box, but start on the idler arms. |

The lag seems to have gotten worse. I got the truck with 65k on it I never really noticed the bad lag in it until the last 10k or so. I have to be careful pulling out in traffic. The front end has been checked by 2 different shops and no one can find anything. all the ball joints have been replaced. The steering feels tight and doesn't seem to have any excessive play in it. thanks everyone for the help...

the turbo needs to be removed and cleaned , you do need to get the newest flash for the cold start issue, make sure they pull codes as well, that may help with determining what all is wrong , as far as the front end , i think you will probably find the gear box is worn

Thank you everyone for the input. Is there anything I can do to get the mpg up a bit? 18 mpg would be nice...lol

well getting the turbo fixed/cleaned would be a start. leaks in the exhaust will cause an mpg decrease (even slight). from what i am learning with a problem i am having with my truck, if there is any miss it will cause slow turbo spool therefor have slow take off which all plays a part of mpg's.

14 and 15 is about normal for 6.0 , that is the average anyway
