backfire thru intake with black smoke out the pipe
my 04 developed a "miss" while driving. It made a puffing sound sound out of the intake (like a turbo pop off valve) and spit a puff of black smoke out the pipe with each puffing sound. The truck lost most all acceleration and power and got worse in a matter of minutes. Took it to the shop they said it was the egr and a dirty turbo. After they changed the egr and cleaning the turbo, NO CHANGE. The mechanic said he has no codes and has checked everything from his laptop and even changed sensors from donor trucks and checked all the wiring. Now he says he thinks it is the turbo. Any input out there?
