something is wrong

My truck is acting up…. First, when I get on it and roll out getting the EGTs up to about 1000 it feels like the turbo is cutting out. When I role back into it the truck pours black smoke out and the turbo doesn’t spool up. Is my turbo going out or is my EGR valve clogged up. Also when I build up boost there is a humming whistle maybe even a moan, is the head and gasket issue?

ok.... returned to stock and ran some errands. the turbo is still cutting out after running it hard however, no smoke (less fuel on stock tune). at highway speeds when rolling into it and building boost the truck is giving off a howl almost, not a "turbo fart".....?

Hows the power? The noise could be many things! I would tend to believe that the passenger side uppipe flex section is leaking, causing low boost, high egts, and smoke. But id still look into the egr valve and the turbo could be sticking as well... But id check that uppipe.

with the tune loaded it still pulls really good, when the torque converter is locked up and the turbo pushes it. but then you give it more left foot and it down shifts the EGTs as usual sky rocket but it feels like it loses power. you role out after that and get back in it the turbo doesn't spool and it smokes like a steam locomotive.
