smoking???

Ok this morning i have my buddies 05 6.0 here at my shop and when its cold it is hesitating and pumping black and white smoke out the tail pipe untill it is warmed up..Once it is warmed up it runs great and no more smoke????Any ideas im gonna put fresh fuel filters in the truck in a bit..

Black smoke could be a clogged/coke up EGR valve. The white smoke could be an injector issue. Do you have a way to scan it for codes?

OK i just scanned it...Got 3 codes.po404 egr performance,p1335 egrt position sensor minimun stop performance, and a weird one po611 fic module performance????Im gonna get a egr from ford in aa bit but im not to sure on this module code

ok it just acted up for me and tons of white smoke and the egr was completely packed with carbon!!!!!it was deff miss firing when it was acting up

Yeah, replacing the EGR valve should fix the P0404 code and the black smoke issue. The P1335 code might go away as well. The P0611 code for the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) is more than likely causing the miss. I would say the FICM is strating to go to ****.
