what does this code mean?

I took my 03 6.0 to a diesel shop and the guy scanned it with his snap on scanner. He said it showed code 1000 but his scanner wouldnt let him go any further. Any body know what this might mean???

Not quite. In definition it means system checks not complete, or that the PCM power was reset recently. If the truck is running fine, and the code goes away after an amount of engine starts and stops its fine. If it shows that P1000 code constantly, it means there is something that is killing power to the PCM and it will never fullly come online.
