HELP! Driving 05 F-350, 6.0L, temp gauge shoots up, "check temperature" light comes on, exhaust blows white smoke all within about a 1 minute period of driving while I am pulling over. checked thermostat - stuck shut. opened oil cap - full of water. 62K miles, so power train warranty coverage still in effect. Dealer says EGR cooler replacement & fluid replacement is all that is needed to repair. ISN'T THERE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE DUE TO WATER THROUGHOUT? We were thinking that they would drop a crate motor in there - how will the engine ever be the same? Any comments/suggestions?

i would think that after they flushed the engine out of all the coolent that it would be fine again i blew my egr cooler about 2 weeks ago i did the job myself and deleted it and drained and replaced all fluids and the truck ran fine and runs great still... but thats just my experiance im sure a tech can agree
