How to pull check engine codes?

Hi guys I have an 06 f-250, i am wondering how I pull my check engine codes?

Is there like a key sequence or something I can run to get the codes or do I have to take it somewhere?

Thx

You need a scanner that is capable of pulling codes from a diesel. Yes it is an OBDII conector. But the Diesel is OBDII exempt because of being a diesel.

Some OBDII scanners are capable of doing this and some are not.

What is your location. Someone on here maybe able to help you out.

Also what mods do you have done to your truck. This info can help tell you what the problem maybe. Because some modifications to the truck cause codes to turn on the cel.

hey thanks for your quick reply.
I currently have no mods done on the truck. i just bought the truck about 4 months ago, used with 60,000 miles or so. She's been running like a champ for 5k miles or so.
Today I was accelerating from a stoplight, and it completely lost almost all power, then after about 20-30 seconds it kind of sputtered, and whole bunch of white smoke came out, and then power returned. And the check engine light came on.

Sounds like the egr valve needs cleaned. But I would pull codes before you start tearing out the egr valve.
