Push rod?

Want to get everyone's opinion on this. I did head studs and gaskets etc etc and aligned the dowl hole on the balancer to 6 o'clock to install push rods. Torqued studs then rockers to correct torque. Turned motor over by hand and seemed good. Assembled the rest and turned the truck over to start, she started but has a thump coming out the intake, shut her down quick and think I bent a push rod. Want to get opinions before I start ripping it apart this week.

bent push rods

You will need to pull both valve covers and visually inspect. Push rods are useually self evident you can see them.
The most common cause is missing the center pocket of the lifter. Jamming against the head or something else and when the rocker tries to collapse the lifter it bends the rod because there is no [give] of the lifter.

Lord I shall lead them to the water but I will not try to make them drink

Yea I'm starting the tear down tonight to see what went wrong and how bad it is. Hopefully I didn't bend a valve and it's just the push rod but if I have to I will pull the head for inspection.

Well I took it apart this evening when I got home and I bent Nr 5 cylinder push rod from what I can see. Going to finish up getting oil rail out for closer inspection tomorrow and order replacement parts. So far as I can tell from looking at the drivers side with the rail off the 5 cylinder is the only one.
