just want to vent a little. dropped truck off mon. after work for smoke at start up. it even developed a miss on the way to the dealer. its supposed to be done now but they want to keep it til tomorrow so they can start it in the morning when its cold. another bad injector. a weak one the service manager said. i bought this thing on the 6th. since then the dealer has had it over 8 days. i got another loner from them which costs me $17 a day for insurance. driving in center city philadelphia without it would be nuts. as hard as i tried i could not figure out a way to hook a trailer and load a quad on this ford taurus to go to the mountains like i was planning this weekend. maybe if i put the grizzly on the roof..... i did call a lawer and all its gonna take is one more problem with this thing. but i hope it don't come to that. thanks for listening. i feel a little better now. oh yeah, did i mention i just got my payment coupon book in the mail today! ha ha ha

well, just to let you know where they are coming from, they want to be safe that on cold start it doesnt have any more injectors falling out, and that is where they first develop problems. as far as why you are having repeated injector failures, it could be a few things. first off, there are some out there that are just going bad, and those are 80% if the failures. the others are caused by poor oil, either not the right wieght, or not enough anti foam in it, and the biggest thing is fuel pressure. if the truck does not have sufficient fuel pressure, the injectors do not stay properly lubed and it causes them to fail. the most common cause of low fuel pressure in the 6.0 is improper mainenence on the fuel filters (there are two). if the filters are not allowing at least 45 psi of fuel pressure to the injector, it fails do to lack of lubrication. im wondering if the prior owner was good about changing fuel filters and if yours may need to be done. they should be done every 15k on both the 7.3 and 6.0. hope this helps, and im with ya, ive had mad customers just like you are, and i just thought i would give ya a little insight on the other side again. if there is any questions you have for me about their test or anything let me know, hope this helps........Marc

i'm the third owner! still kicking myself for not seeing that red flag. think i'll pick up a couple of fuel filters tommorow while i'm picking the truck up. the dealer just changed the oil before i got it. and i've only put like 400 miles on it. i'd hope they put the right stuff in it. did you ever think of moving to the east coast? i'd love for you to be working on my truck. thanks again marc. you rock

way to many people out here. a few years ago i drove out to your beautiful state to go riding in glamis sand dunes in se california. it was the best thing i ever did. 30 of us total. my 98 chevy with 80000 miles did not shut off for 46 hours following a 97 f350 power stroke towing a 28ft. trailer out there. i made it back in 43 hours and that was stopping and eating in restaurants too. something about setting cruise control over a hundred mph is pretty cool. love your state and wish i lived there. five more years of chaos here near the city and i'm moving to the hills of northern pa. can't wait

only seen that part of the coast on tv. come to think of it i never seen the pacific yet either. saw blue water by san diego aiport picking up a friend but that was it. i got the truck back early in the morning. its running pretty good. changed the fuel filters which i got for $65 after complaining when he asked for $94. got diesel from another station where i know he takes pride in his business and as of now it feels strong. enough to light the tires up when it decided to shift down to first at 5 mph. god i just want this thing to run good and be reliable. hopefully i won't be complaining any more but giving good reports. talk to you all soon.
