Over the weekend I finished putting everything back together after putting in a new oil cooler. Trying to start the Ex now is a challenge. It takes a bit to start it, and runs like crap and will stall. Under lower RPM's it will die, but it will run well in higher revs. If I get it to start and let off the fuel, it will drop to very low RPM's and die. Not sure what to look for to diagnose.
It has a new IPR valve, HPOP and another new oil cooler. I checked a few times for wires that I did not connect but I don't see any.
I also put in a new blue spring for the fuel regulator.
To add a little more info, I did get it to start a few times. Once it ran for 10-15 minutes then finally stalled. It would not start after that. I got it started this morning but it will run fine if I press in the fuel pedal but it will not idle.
I believe it was what we use to call in my IT days as an ID 10 T error.
The rear most harness on the FICM was not pushed in all the way. Pushed it in until I heard it clip in and it started right up. I let it idle for a bit then took it for a short 10 minute test drive around the neighborhood. Later today I'll take it for a longer test drive and get it up to highway speeds to test the oil cooler.
There are so many harness connectors that are removed when you change your oil cooler (maybe 12 or 15?), it is very easy to miss plugging one back in. I keep a running list of all the connectors I remove so I can make sure to avoid having my heart drop when I first start it back up after a lengthy repair.
It was quite amazing how many connectors there are on the harnesses. And I believe I put the harness back on wrong as I believe the harnesses are supposed to go under the fuel filter and I have them running between the fuel filter and oil filter housing. I was just to tired to take off the oil filter housing AGAIN.
