Ok I have a 2005 f250 6.0 with 146 thousand miles been pretty much a good truck all small things the other day parked truck and was running good prior 20 mins later went to get back into the truck and go to the store and it wouldn't start checked ficm was good reading 48.9 volts during key on and starting. Well ran out of options so I did the bad thing and used starter fluid sprayed in air filter and truck startedup let it run for about an hr and cut it off and started it back up now it starts everytime just fine. well went to walmart later on same day and it has a little bit of engine skip during idle and sounds as if it gets louder after has been running awhile and warms up almost 2twice as loud as it should be someone please help im not a diesel mechanic and don't know a lot about this truck just basics thanks :dunno: Truck does seem to blow more black smoke than normal it does have a tune and has been problem free with it has always blew black smoke when I get on it but its doing it a lot easier now
I have no idea it was showing all the signs from the hpop from what I was reading I let it sit all night going to see if it will start again in a few but will a bad Ipr valve make it run louder when warmed up?
If the ICP readings are not ok, the PCM will control the IPR to make the HPOP build the pressure, but if the engine is operating ok and suddenly the ICP falls, the IPR duty will be faster and thus the HPO is goingo to be greater making the injectors shoot more fuel into the chamber... and with more fuel, you need more air... If you step on the pedal without enough air, your tailpipe will blow black smoke
you have got to be correct started it up few mins ago let it get to normal operation temperature and now it idles kinda rough and barely giving it gas it will puff out black smoke
ok disconnected icp sensor and started it up was doing same thing and cut it back off unplugged egr and started it up and problem was gone. so I cut it back off plugged icp back in and egr and runs fine now .! im so confused ??
yes I have a multimeter and basic knowledge I check ficm with it everything checked good on that with key on and starting before I could get it running after I sprayed the ether and finally got it running it starts everytime now no problem sit all night and started fine this morning other than running loud and very easy to put out black smoke now it runs perfect I dunno what causes this all I did was unplug egr and icp and started it up and cut it back off and plugged them both back up and runs fine but for how long is the question what did u want me to check? and thanks so much for your time
No problem dude, i'm at the shop right now, all of the 6.0h's near me are healthy, nothing to work on today, glad to help people
I wanted you to check the pins in the EGR harness...
You should have...
E terminal : 12V
A terminal : Ground
B terminal : Ground
C terminal: Signal return (in this case 0, not ground or battery)
D terminal: 5V
Check for it, i'm not pretty sure about the terminals position, i can't recall it that well right now, but that's the values you are looking for, anything else than that is false.
For the .04 volts, check it around, put the red tip on the battery and the black on that pin, it should say the battery voltage, if this test is ok, you might have a problem with the EGR valve being crossed.
used starting fluid to get it back home and parked it sit for 15 mins and wont start again out of options please help
