Here is an update on my 6.0 Woes……
-Bought a really nice 2005 E350 Super Duty Van with 6. Uh Oh in October 2013
-In frigid cold of this winter batteries died three times, to be recharged each time.
-March 2014 van lost all power and would not start/stay running, local service station diagnosed it to be cam position sensor and crank position sensor, replaced both, seemed to fix the problem, but the van did not seem to run properly. THEN……….
-Scan Gauge readings not entirely believable for ECT = 183 (OK) but suddenly EOT = 176, less than coolant temp, this doesn’t seem right. Up until the dead batteries/cam & crank sensor problem, EOT was always 6-10 deg higher than ECT.
Other scan gauge readings:
BST: about 1 at idle, about 3-4 under acceleration, about 13 at highway speed under heavy acceleration (I know, time to clean the turbo)
FMP: 47.5-48.5, never less than 47.5
VGT: 45% - 55%
VLT: at start up when GPs warming about 11.9, after GPs warm, 12.9 at idle, when higher RPMs about 13.1.
I was about to: have both batteries pulled from their boxes up under the frame and replaced and have the alternator checked today (Cinco DeMayo) but two days ago, Saturday, with family in van, on highway:
But Saturday with family in van on highway the Van throttle suddenly became unresponsive, van lost all power and dies, I nursed it onto the shoulder. Attempting to restart, systems (lights, doorlocks etc) cycled On and Off, would not run or restart, called for a flatbed, ……
…………………….the van is now with a Ford dealer, I’m thankful no one was hurt, I’ll post when I hear from Ford what killed it while driving…..Anybody want to venture a guess?
Thanks,
Gene
