p0671 - bus bar removal tool question

I'm throwing a P0671 (Cyl 1 glow plug circuit) and white smoking like crazy on cold-soak starts until it gets warmed up. My guess is the GP is dead and cyl 1 isn't lighting up right away, so my smoke is probably unburnt fuel.

I do have the 03 solid bus bar. Do I need any special removal tool for that? It seems like the special tool is only needed for the post-04 GP wire harness.

I will Ohm test it to make sure it is the GP and not something else, but I figure I'll buy the new plug awhile and replace it anyway. It's a cheap enough part. I know the dealer replaced 2 bad ones last summer on their dime from two different cylinders and they also replaced the bus bar, so it should still be in good shape.

no special tool, just yank. but it will fall apart. so have a new one at the ready. and id suggest doing all glow plugs on that bank to make sure you dont have to buy another harness if another plug goes down the road. the little clips that clip to the glow plug break off. i hate it but there is nothing you can do to stop that.
