6.0 Bad ficm, No codes

For about six months now i've been dealing with an itermittant no start. It has pegressivly gottin worse. tested my ficm, its anwhere from 20v to 36v. I'm replacing it with BPD ficm. My ? is, since this problem started, no start, ruff running. low power. Not once has the mil light come on, and have scaned it several times and never got any codes.

There is usually a code but if not, don't worry about it. You know that its already bad so I would just replace it and go from there.

"what we have here....is a failure to communicate...."
I beleive one of the biggest mistakes that FORD did that led up to the 6.0 being such a PR nightmare was the lack of a good monitoring system. Or guages. Basiclly the truck rolled off the show room floor like a mute. And this lead up to the owners running down the road thinking life was good cause their was no lights on the dash that would of told them other wise.
Then the truck has a "all of the sudden it wont start" moment. And the owner is pizzed off and the word started to spread. But if the truck could of warned you it was in trouble months ago it would of been fixed before it was a major melt down event.
My ficm when I got the truck was running if I remember 41volts and without my Edge I would never have known it.

What on my truck detects or stores codes? Does the FICM do it, or do i have another problem?

No the FICM does not store codes. That comes from the trucks computer. Once the new FICM is installed you should be alright. If not come back and let us know.

If you replace whole fimc...
It is not common but trust me i been there you could have fimc logig boars issue and it doesn't cange a thing to just replace only the power board of yout fimc if the problem is on your fimc logic board..

Yep, it's one of the "nicer" components that Ford left out (a.k.a. that little warning light, the ability to know when or when NOT to make a trip to the shop). I drove my 6.0 for about 3 months before it went all down hill and I forked over $2,000 in repairs. Luckily, and like I said "luckily", I have done alot of home work now with my little Scanguage 2.
