EXCURSION FUEL PUMP ALTERNATIVE???

Instead of dropping tank to replace the fuel pump in my '04 EX, can I install an a pump on the frame rail and leave the old pump in the tank?
Just trying to save some money and make it easier in the future if it fails again.
Thanks for any help!

If you have a 6.0L then your fuel pump is already on the frame rail underneath the drivers door

Yep, frame rail with the main filter.
Is that your issue?
