6.0 Loss of power with smoke

This morning I drove my truck to work with no issues then during lunch I was driving for about ten minutes before my issues started. After stopping at a stop sign and upon accelleration, there was no power and there was grey smoke coming from my exhaust. Suddenly the truck came back online, and ran fine for the rest of my lunch period. There is no drop in the coolant level. I am going to run codes tonight with my insight that should arrive this evening. Truck is stock other than a coolant filter, ELC red coolant, AFE air intake and manifold.

Any suggestions?

Run codes see if anything pops up, but it may have been a fluke?

Could be a sticking EGR valve, although mine made black smoke when it stuck.

The code that shows up on my Insight is P0404. I don't recall the smoke color my was giving off, but it may have been black or grey. Any ideas with this code? It is saying something about EGR position.

More then likely a sticking EGR Valve I'd pull it and see if it's clogged. It's possible to clean it but you can also play it safe and replace it.

These trucks are hard on the oil as well if it's close to your next oil change it can't hurt. A lot of problems relating to injectors and mostly random problems can be attributed to the oil. Also if the egr looks clean then it may have failed or may have been defective.
