P0299 Underboost

Truck has thrown the code twice. I've been able to clear it and it stayed off for a number of weeks. Than came on again the other day. First time it was under acceleration. I wasn't driving it the second time.

I usually try to drive the truck hard enough to cycle the vanes, but that may only be once every two weeks. And it will just be once or twice on a drive that it's at WOT.

Haven't noticed any power loss nor have I heard any boost leak anywhere.

Leaning towards the vanes sticking due to the truck sitting for a week or two at a time.

Thoughts?

Probably a good assessment. Take the turbo out and clean it.... if there is heavy pitting around the vanes you will probably need a new turbo... the unison ring could be worn out as well. Hopefully it just needs a good cleaning!
