My 05 won't recognize any DTC's...

my truck is an 05 and i have a scan gauge. its all stock besides exhaust and an 80 horse atlas tune on the ficm. i have had the EGR unplugged for a long time and i unplugged the VGT the other day and ran it for a couple minutes and i noticed that it reads no DTC's through my scan gauge or through the light on the dash. anyone have any experience with this? Thank you for your help

It may not be the truck, it may be the device. I noticed that my EDGE Insight and my friends Scan Gauge II wont pickup certain codes. If I then use my Hypertech Max Engergy tuner as a code reader, it will pick-up all codes, and I can them clear them. Just did this last week on two different 06 6.0ls.

But with the EGR and VGT both unplugged, shouldn't the check engine light on the truck come on? I think that the ScanGauge does not recognize any codes because the truck is not throwing them. i can't understand why its not throwing them

Not all codes are thrown right away some the event has to happen a certain number of times during a cycle. As for the EGR the 06 programming ignores the egr when deleted and will set no light or code I believe.
