Recall on 06s

Anyone else know about the recall on the 06 6.0l? I got a letter forwarded from the previous owners about a recall regarding the engine control-basically a fix on the PCM. I wonder if I should even bring my truck to get it done since I have a tuner

Does my tuner basically cover this issue? I mean if its for engine control I would think so. Dunno

I talked to Alan and Marc on this a while ago when i was having trouble for with the removal of my bully dog download. As far as i know its just a reflash of the ECM, And if i remember corectly it has to do with emissions, i think but i have been wrong before. I was going to use the reflash to get the programmer off my truck, but it went away. Marc told me that not all 6.0 trucks have to have it done, only a small few. yours just happends to be one of the few.

Hmm if its only emissions then I may be better off just not going. Ha-"only emissions"-its fun to be a polluter


If it is that then I guess I wouldnt have to go in with the tuner installed...kind of changes things anyways

A few weeks ago, I got the 05E15 recall notice. I have not gone yet to get it done. Here is why.
I have an 04 6.0 with 56K miles. No problems. With no load and traveling 55-66 mpr, I can get 19-20 mpg. Towing my 5th wheel of 8-9K this past Summer going thru OH, VW, VA,PA, & NY I can get 10-11 mpg in the hills and 11-12 on the flats.
With the flash upgrade, will i be getting less power and less MPG. from some of what I have read, I think I am getting good mileage.
I dont want to get it messed up.
Do I have a valid concern. Should I just forget about getting the recall done?

Had 05e16 done earlier this year. Truck actually seemed to run a bit better afterwords. All the recall does is 'complete' the emissions part of the ECM programming that was missed from the factory. If you live in a state where diesels are not exempt from polution testing, the state will refuse to renew your tags if you don't have the recall done (at least that's what I heard from folks in California).

the other thing the recall does is lenthens the pulswidth of the injectors on cold starts for the first so many minutes to prevend lack of power and or injector problems in colder weather on initial start up....
