2005 6.0 with 220k miles.

the shop says I need new 6 and 8 injectors. I found some for 180 on injector . these are reman. Any thoughts on going this route.

The video on you tube seems pretty straight fwd for replaceing these. Are there any reasons I should not try this myself? Any nuances I should be aware of? I have replaced the ficm hpop ipr oil cooler and egr cooler myself. thanks.

FWIW, not all remans are the same, but these should be fine. 6 & 8 are fairly straight forward and easy to get to. Expect the job to take you about 2-4hrs, less if you work really quick.

You don't have to totally remove the Degas bottle or drain any coolant. You can swing it out of the way to the side. Just remove the 2 small return lines, ensuring the hoses don't leak and same for the Degas.

Some sockets (due to wall thickness) will not work very well to pop out the electrical connection.

Ensure you clean out the hold-down of any oil. In any case, ensure the bolt goes all the way in when installing and torquing it.

Watch that the coils do not rub on the rockers during installation.

Don't loose any parts and ensure the cups are clean (most of the they are fine).

Thank you for the information. I was thinking about what the shop said a little more. It seems odd to me that the truck ran fine once started and the 6 and 8 injectors could be out. (the reason I went to the shop was it started hard but only in the mornings) But maybe so. I would hope they know more about it than me. I was expecting to get a printout from them telling me all the pressures and voltages. Especially the ICP voltage as I have read on this site many times that the culprit of a hard start was the ICP. The shop did not tell me any voltages or pressures. They only said "for starters you need 6 and 8 injectors". Is there any chance it could just be the ICP? thanks again!!
