I had to take my truck in for a recall, I don't know exactly what they had to do but it gets worse fuel mileage now then before. It's also louder than it was before while idling. Can anyone tell me what they did? One of the tech's I asked said they had to re-program it. The truck is stock with about 26,000 miles. Did it have to do with it surging and cutting off? Thanks in advance for some insight on this matter.

I drove a buddys 04 6.0 to las vegas NV. When we got to Denver the truck started running real bad we pulled into the local dealer they replaced the backpressure sensor. The tech said he also updated the computer there were 8 updates. We were back on the road the truck had lots more power we were happy. When we pulled into the next gas station our fuel milage was down to 9 mpg. when we started the trip we were getting 16 mpg the whole rest of the trip the best we got was 10 mpg. When we got back we went back to ford and tried to get them to put it back.It took a lot of complaining but they would only reset the computer to update #4 they said if you want to go back more it will cost you $300.00 per update so where it is now he still only gets 13 mpg.Hope this helps
