Turbo Fart?! (I hope so... Now what?)

So last week I had the Edge installed as well as the AFE Mega System II. I am getting a farting/scraping/rubbing/slapping sound that I thought at first was coming from the tranny. I read this morning about Turbo Fart and I hope that is what I am hearing. It is most pronounced when the engine and trans are cold, under a load, and I let off the pedal to create a lot of backpressure. It goes to a single "fart" under heavy backpressure after reaching operating temps.

Is this in fact a Turbo Fart? What can be done to eliminate it?

the noise your hearing is completely normal, i can make a truck with a stock intake do it, but when you install and aftermarket intake, the noise becomes more pronounced

Oh man,

I was doing a burnout for my son on the way home from dinner one night. Just like you said, when it goes under a load, then you let off the gas is when it happens. It sounded like my brand new air intake system got sucked up through my turbo, what a hideous sound!

BTW, what type of air intake do you have on your truck?

I used the AFE Mega Max, but installed it after the Edge so I didn't get a feel for any improvement or not. It seems to breathe pretty easily though

yep same scare i got after the first time i heard mine do that, i got under the hood and looked all over for something loose
