6.0 starting problem

I recently bought a 6.0 with 60k miles on it. The guy that previously owned it had custom tunes put on a sct and has egr delete, studs, and powermax turbo but has trouble starting after sitting cool for about 6 hours.

Long crank like a cold start and when it does eventually start it has a rough idle for a few minutes. I unplugged the ICP and it didnt change anything. Heating the block by plugging it in made it start a lot quicker but it still was a gradual start with a rough idle for some time after. Any suggestions?

It could be the oil. My buddy had this same problem and when it came time for him to change his oil I was there and he was putting 1 gallon of Lucas with the rest being 15w-40. That oil is so thick when cold, I'm surprised the oil made it into the injectors.

Can you monitor your ipr?

Aight I'm going to replace it tomorrow morning and I'll see if it fixes it, just glad to hear its not a freak problem since I'm new to these engines

And no I wouldnt be able to moniter IPR's, should I or just wait to see if the oil change fixes it?

Rotella T6 my friend, it'll run so smoooth and start so easy. After sending in oil samples to BlackStone, I'm on my 3rd change with a sample and I'm running this one to 10k miles. Another member is running 15k miles on the rotella per BlackStone analysis. I'll never touch Lucas! Just ask Ramonpowerstroker and the sludge under his valve cover from Lucas

Hopefully it's not your HPOP, but since it starts good warm it doesn't seem likely.

Thanks for the help, I'll post results and which I used

And yeah it starts better bet still not a solid start and a rougher-than-normal idle for a while, I'm hoping its not HPOP either haha
