05 Loses power, idles rough, sometimes dies.

This is a good friends truck, and I haven't personally experienced the problem on his truck, so details may be a bit vague, but I will do my best.

Truck is an 05. Took it to the local PSD guru for a hard cold start and rough idle. I thought it may be injector stiction, so I hooked up my CTS to it and had cylinder contribution codes for all 8 cylinders, and the FICM voltage was a little low. So they replaced the FICM with a new ford unit, so I'm told, and now it will run fine, then all of a sudden start dropping power to the point where it won't hardly do 40mph, then when he stops it idles rough and will sometimes die. He has told me that if he turns it off and restarts, most of the time it will run fine again, bit then repeats the whole process. It is now sitting back at the mechanics shop, and he has a HUGE backlog, and my pal needs his truck back so I'm trying to help him out through the advice of the forum.

I am wondering if its an ICP sensor or and IPR that is causing the problem, but hard to say for sure.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Egr valve sticking would cause this pull and clean the egr valve. It could be a fuel filter issue as well. You need to invest in a monitor such as scan gauge or edge ct so we can get a good look at what your engine is doing and pull the codes again.
