Easy fix? Doesn't look too bad to change hose. The X is in a bad spot and I cent see how much of that hose is one piece.

It just looks like a Y type fitting . I can't see the part hidden behind the filter minder, but I wouldn't think it would be bad to replace. As far as why it failed, it could have been many things, from stress while moving the degas bottle around, or poor QC at the manufacturing facility

Went to dealer , they said it is common, got the part, looks to be a pita

All done! Took an hour or so once I figured out what all needed to take off.

Zombie ductape to limp home.

Remove air box and turbo tube. While you are in here you might as well replace the turbo boots, I didnt think about that before hand so I did not replace them

New heater hose or whatever installed. Make sure you either drain some coolant out or have the replacement close to shove on so you don't lose much coolant.

This was a pretty easy replace. Probably took an hour or so.

funny thin is with all of the 6.0 problems there is that is the only thing that has ever made me pull my rig over and shut her down. quick trip to home depot made a t out of brass fittings and back on the road again. guys at BPD call me the plumber now..
