egr delete threw code but now code turned off
2005, 6.0, 220k miles.
Anyone know why my check engine light went off without me deleting the code from my egr delete?
5k miles ago I performed a redneck egr delete by pounding freeze plugs into each end of the egr cooler. As expected, the check engine light came on and stayed on for about a month. Just recently the check engine light went off. I pulled the egr valve and inspected the inside of the intake housing to find what I thought to be a lot of wetness. From this I thought, (as I had been warned) the exhaust burnt through the freeze plugs therefore reintroducing exhaust into the intake and turning off my check engine light. Even worse, the EGR cooler is leaking coolant which is also coming into my intake manifold. But today I removed the egr cooler and the freeze plugs are intact with no risk of melting through. So I am wondering why my check engine light went off and there seems to be A LOT of wetness inside the entire intake system.
