throttle problem

Well heres the deal. i was getting on the highway yesterday, I was on the access road comming to the on ramp , so i gave it some more gas. Well when i gave it gas it started to o faster, then i got to about 60, when i got to 60 it stoped going faster, i gave it more gas... nothing happend. i gave it full throttle and still noting happend, it was just cruzing at 60. so i pumped the gas pettle a few times and then it started to work again, it hasent happend again, sence then. Anyone have any ideas?
