04' 6.0 powerstroke runs extremely rough

I have an 04 powerstroke with 76,000 miles, and have noticed a loss of power and poor fuel economy. The mileage dropped in the past two months from 16.5 Mpg to about 12.5. I took it in and had all the maintanance done. The ran new programs also. They told me that the fuel I was using is from a bad source and I need to use additive and get fuel from a truck stop near my home in Colorado. Is this bull? I think it has something to do with the EGR or the injectors. The truck literally falls on its face until it gets to running temp. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Brian

sounds to me more like bull than truth, fact of the matter is there are some dealers out there that just dont want to do major warranty jobs cause they dont get paid squat for it.I cant give you an answer on the problem, but I would have someone else try and diagnose it.

Pull your EGR and clean it and you'll probably find this problem goes away.

You're right TX. they are a little tricky. I worked on mine for quite a while, cussin the whole way. I had the best luck with a small 90* prybar, working really slowly so I didn;t damage the 2 o-rings on there.
