Loss of power at times.
04 f350 stroker.
At times i can be turning right from a parking lot and gas it the truck will just bog like it is not getting any fuel. Some times the water light will come on at the time of the truck bogginh down than it goes off when the truck is fine. I check for water all good.New fuel filter put in. Today i was leaving a parking lot and gased it to merge into traffic and the truck just did nothing but bogg down.No lights, codes,no smoke. It act likes it has no fuel at times but stays at a nice idle.

That happened to me once (no power when i :boxing: it). I shut it off, turned it on, never happened again. My dad just got his 04 back from the shop, two bad injectors in his (2nd time). The only thing I can think is if you WANT it, make sure you have the latest flash on your cpu.

Mine too
I just bought a 2004 F-250 Harley Davidson Edition PSD, 26000 miles. On the way home (I bought it out of town, about 200 miles away), it would lose power, my cruise would shut off, the lights on the dash would come on, and my wife, following me, said that it would smoke when it did this. It would do this, then go away and run great. It seemed only to happen when I would hit a bump in the road, so this morning I took it down a really bumpy road, and it didn't happen. So, on the highway this afternoon, it started doing it again. I took it to the dealer and droppped it off. What do you think it could be? My check engine light stayed on this time. Now, when it is running, it runs so good, so much power. It has me concerned though. I don't want to think I got into something maybe I shouldn't have. Some advise and words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

My best guess would be an egr valve problem...

What is the egr valve? What does it do, and can they fix it fairly easily? They said they would keep through the weekend and I may be able to get it on Monday. Thanks for your help.

the egr valve is an emmissions item that recycles some of the exhaust gas back into the intake. It is fairly easy to change, but special tools (scan tools) are needed to diagnose it. Without codes, etc, its just a guess...

I have a new egr in mine and it still bogs from time to time.
Its happened since I filled up once with low sulfer fuel from shell, do you think that could have anything to do with its performance? We talked to shell, and they said they've had a lot of complaints from powerstroke owners, but we've ran almost 2 full tanks of regular diesel and its still acting up! Thanks for the help! |

try this....run a bottle of cetane booster through it and also go back to shell and buy a botttle of their "techron" additive....see what that does for ya....
