2005 wrong diagnoses, dealer over charges beware

Hello new to the site and powerstroke of about two months. Ok so I bought 2005 nice clean truck 210,000 , i have put 3000 on it .truck started running bad 3 miles from home then died in driveway . Got it tow to dealer they said it needed eight injectors replaced and a FICM (4500.00) I said forget I will have to wait did not have that kind of cash right now. Did not believe them so pulled it into the garage and started with changing fuel filters, and bleeding air out of fuel system . Truck started ran for 5 min and quit , pulled fuel pump from frame cleaned started it up did same thing. Dropped tank and found pickup check valve fell out . I drained tank of 6 gallons of fuel cleaned and popped check valve in and drilled small hole in at edge of check valve and pinned it so it could not fall out again . 5 gallons of fresh fuel , and filtered 6 gallons back in. Truck fired up ran great. What happen to needing 8 injectors and FICM. 58.00 for filter maintenance , and two nights worth of time. Went up to dealer and told how far they where they said sorry what the F--k.

Just curious as to why you dropped the tank right away? Explain to me your thought process?

It just seem to be running out of fuel/ sucking air into system. I thought maybe the foot had broke off the pickup .
