6.0 shuts down by itself.

hey guys i just did a coolant flush on my truck i put in some zerex cat-1 coolant. while i was letting it get to temp(probably running maybe 20mins) the truck shut off by itself. i looked at cluster the check gauge light, battery, water in fuel line(not sure if that is what its called) , lights came on. it fired right back up fine but shut off again. any ideas what it could be? i thought the computer needed to be reset so i disconnected the batteries. any help is appreciated.

update: well i drained the water separator dirt and other particles came out of the drain plug and installed a new filter(ford filter) still no change. starts up then runs for a few seconds then cuts out again. when the trucks runs it sounds boggy is best way to describe it. i put some diesel kleen in the tanks but i doubt that it helped any.

You need a scan tool like a scanguage to check a few PID's like:

FICM Voltage
IPR
ICP

Here is some good reading, it will help alot with the diagnosis.

No start issue? Look here.

i was going though the link you provided. i went back and double checked the chaffing areas and found that i must have broke the connector that goes to the vgt solenoid. can i correctly assume that this is the problem causing it to run then shut down?

I wouldn't think that a non functional VGT would cause a no start or die at idle. I would think that it would more than likely cause a lack of power issue. Code P0046 is set when a short to ground, open, or short to power is identified in the VGT circuit or wiring between the PCM and VGT.
