05 Excursion 6.0 No Start today

I parked at the bank to day for 10 minutes and when I tried to leave I had a no start condition.

I did get it started after about a half hour. I had tried cranking it every 5 minutes or before I got it going.

I have an Edge CTS and was monitoring everything. I had these reading with the NO START condition:

FICM voltage is 48
ICP 700PSI give or take
Battery Voltage over 12.5 cranking

When I got home I looked everything over and could not see any chafed wires or anything. I will look more though. The vehicle starts up evey time now but seemed like it took a lil longer than usual.

I did notice I was a lil more than 1 and a 1/2 quarts low on oil. Seems to start quicker after adding the oil but I am hard pressed to think that would cause the no start.

Scary stuff when it dont fire up and your numbers are in the green.

Any suggestions, I mean it is working now but I have a feeling it may happen again like most 6.0 owners would.

Could be a fuel pump going bad. Any idea what your fuel pressure is?

If I have over 700PSI oil pressure when cranking could I still have a HPOP issue causing the no start?

I am no mechanic but I have read and read and read forums and posts on these 6.0's. I did my EGR delete and the Oil Cooler 6 months ago, I have gotten my hands dirty and my knuckles bloodied but I am baffled on this one.

Well, no problem there.

Only other thing I can think is that your ICP while cranking seems a little low...While it is above the 500 minimum, I usually see well over 1000 psi while cranking

I forgot to mention, I did not have a check engine light but I did scan a P2285 code.

I did not clear the code but after a few restarts I thought I would clear the code with my scanner but the code was no longer there.

Kind of weird but that is what happened.

I put my battery charger on my batteries and they are showing 60%. I have 2 Optimas which are fairly new (under a year) but I must say I am not thrilled with their performance.

Both have already been replaced under warranty.

I did crank the crap out of them last night trying to get started but nothing too crazy.

I think I cranked one interval of 30 seconds and then maybe 10 to 15 intervals of 10 seconds.

When I drove home it ran for about 20 minutes.

I think the charge is a bit weak on them and prob not related to my excessive cranking. It just may attribute to Optima not making the quality battery they used to.

I will add I had dual batteries (Yellow Optimas) on our 04 Silverado 8.1L in 2010 -2011 and both had to get replaced as well because they took a poop!

Anyway, thats my deal!
