Stuck open injector?

Also, truck has not lost any power. So could this be a stuck open injector dumping fuel constantly?

Brent,

BTW, that is a nasty cylinder knock. That certainly looks and sounds like an over-fuelling injector. Best guess #7 is broke bad and #5 is weak and on its way out at a later date. Unless the labour is free, you know the drill... 2 for sure... maybe more...

Stuck open injector?

Yea I'm gonna clear the codes and re-run the truck and see which codes return. You'd think with the #7 cont. code it would fail the buzz test but Mabey if its stuck open it wouldn't fail the buzz test. I'm going to do another buzz test when the truck is cold that should tell me for sure. Luckily price isn't too much of a concern probably change 5 and 7 there on the same bank, might as well.

Stuck open injector...

I have had 2 stuck open injectors (#1 & #5) in the past 4 months...your symptoms sound exactly like what my truck experienced. (Black smoke that turns white, rich horrid diesel smell, rough idle, spark knock, cylinder contribution codes) Change out both injectors and you should be good to go. (It will still smoke for a bit though, so be aware of that...it has to burn off the excess diesel that remains in the system. Drive it about 5-10 miles and the smoke will disappear.)

Cool, I appreciate you chiming in, I knew there had to be someone on here that's experienced the same problem.

as long as you're in there why not change the whole bank? Anytime it's 2 or more on one side I recommend them all

Stuck open injector?

I did pick up 4 from ford yesterday just in case. It couldn't hurt to change them all on that side.
