6.0L hard start, running rough until warm
All,
hope you can help. I've read through all the other posts, websites, you tube videos, etc and need some help.
I have a 2006 Ford F350 King ranch dually. It has 86,000 miles on it..
Last year I replaced the Oil cooler, Bulletproof EGR (bulletproof Diesel) ARP Head studs/gaskets, Dummy plug (new design with mylar washers) and reconditioned the turbo. It ran fine after I got it all back together, but i did have a small turbo leak at the input from the exhaust.
I bought this truck new and ever since I bought it it has gotten harder and harder to start. It runs fine when warmed up but takes forever and has trouble shifting until warm (which it has done since New)
I checked the FICM. 48.6 volts, and 46 while starting, pulled down the engine and checked the dummy plugs, no noticeable o ring failure, and the oil rail connector, also no o ring problems. So i'm looking at the injectors now. any thoughts? can they be tested, glow plug tests? any ideas? i do notice that some of the clips holding the injector wiring through the head are missing. since this is the third time this engine has been apart by multiple mechaincs, i dont know if the pieces ended up in the block, or whether the other mechanics caught them and just discarded. if the pieces did end up in the motor, where do they show up and is this a potential cause of the hard start (takes three tries if its not plugged in) and sluggish run until warm. thanks for the help.
