Coolant in the oil cooler

Got an 05 f250 6.0 the egr cooler went out so i started ripping it down today to do an egr delete and when I took the oil filter out it was soaked with coolant. What is the cause of this. This is my first diesel but hasn't been 2 hard so far I've got the turbo off that's all the daylight I had after work but need help with the reason for coolant in the oil filter.

The oil cooler is probably cracked as well or you lost a head gasket.

Yea I was hoping I didn't have to replace it is it hard to replace or is there a post on here with details on how to replace it. I'm not really worried about the head gaskets I have checked all the way around its not wet or losing power.

The oil cooler is fairly easy to replace. Just get the kit and there are directions inside.
