6.0 no crank problem

My 2005 Super Duty will sometimes start - then run rough for a couple of seconds - stall - and then not crank or even click when I try to restart. So far if I leave it alone for a while it will then start. Ford has a new starter pigtail wire kit which is supposed to cure this no-crank problem but it doesn't say if it applies to diesels. Has anyone used it? And did it cure the problem or is there something else I should be looking at? Thanks
