Smoking like a S.O.B. Help !!!

Hello board ! I just swapped out a stock 200,000 mile turbo on my 6.0,for a low mileage stock one, used new o-rings & gasket on the tube & line,I have put about 40 miles on it when i noticed white smoke at stop light, it goes away under throttle,but when i let off it smokes bad, my coolant level was low also ! i was running so good then this happens,PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT !!!

White smoke with coolant loss kinda points to a blown egr cooler.

Pull your egr valve out of the in intake and look for coolant inside the intake. I'd there is than your egr cooler has failed, is so I would highly recommend buying a egr delete. But if you can't because of smog regs, look at Bulletproof Diesels egr cooler. There's lots off info on here about the replacement and delete process. It helped me a lot.

Well I pulled it out and it is wet inside ! should i drain the coolant now to prevent hydrolock ! Also Who makes the best delete kit ? thanks

I went with the IPR Gen2 kit and did the oil cooler with it.

I'm still a fan of just blocking it off. Coolant cont. To flow how it should. And no one can tell me why a delete is better. Save yourself the money and block it off. While your down there put a new oil cooler in.

O and don't drain your coolant if your still driving you will over heat the engine.

Well im thinking about a upgraded bulletproof cooler and oil cooler for sure ! any thoughts !1

In my opinion you need to slow down... White smoke could be several different things.

First you could have a CCV system that isnt working properly, you could have a injector that is leaking excess fuel into the cylinder, you could have a turbo seal that is bad.

Verify EGR cooler failure before you tear it down.

Coolant continues to flow as it was intended even with a delete. The advantage of a delete, is to improve exhaust flow, decrease exhaust turbulence, and prevent the introduction of coolant into the intake after failure of a jerry rigged existing egr cooler.
